All I Want For Christmas Is Your Help! For God’s Sake – HELP! {Four Ways To Save A Dog or Cat’s Life TODAY! No gore pics, I promise!}

All I Want For Christmas Is Your Help! For God's Sake - HELP! {Four Ways To Save A Dog or Cat's Life TODAY! No gore pics, I promise!}

I am sorry to tug at your heart strings but if you have a little time or even $10 you can save a furry life today! Remember the beautiful Zac & Reg that Mummy Ask adopted? You know that they are cute as buttons, right? You can see how they are her most loved companions, right? Yeah, well if it wasn’t for SA Dog Rescue they probably would have had the green dream long before the met my Mum. If it wasn’t for the amazing volunteers that make up SA Dog Rescue ,those dogs would just wouldn’t exist. We love all kinds of furries and always contribute to their welfare. In fact, Mummy Ask was part of a Kris Kringle thing where the gifts were around $80 per person. Mum made it clear she wanted $80 worth of dog food to donate!  Please know, that I wasn’t asked to write this, it comes from the love I have for every furry thing!

 Mummy Ask Says: It’s ALL about the LOVE!

I don’t need that extra scarf, hanky, perfume, scented candle or gift voucher that means you know me. You’re giving it out of love and with the best intentions but if you really knew me you would know that the relief of human and animal suffering is the thing I most care about. A superfluous but well intentioned Christmas gift, if you knew me wouldn’t be what I want. Because I would want a gift that ends suffering for those I care about and I care about the animals. We live in an affluent country, let that show in what we do for living beings, rather than what we recieved and stashed in a drawer. Please show your love and understanding.

Christmas is the pits for animal rescue. Some lousy excuses for humans abandon their pets in the lead up to Christmas because they don’t want to pay for the food! Excuse my french but ASSHOLES! Others buy pets as gifts and as we all know – A pet is not just for Christmas, it’s for life. But yet again, ASSHOLES!! To get to the point, there is a list of ways you can help below and if you’re interested, a bit more info.

  1. Buy the Xmas cards and 2015 Calender
  2. Cash donation via paypal or direct bank transfer
  3. Donation of food and other items to be dropped off to anywhere on the list here  such as dry & tinned dog or cat food, treats, toys, worming medication, flea treatments, collars and leads.
  4. Volunteering
  5. Fostering animals

SA Dog Rescue (SADR) is a registered not for profit organisation dedicated to saving pets from euthanasia. SADR started 2001 when Carole Morris took home a dog on the pound’s kill list. His name was Freddy, and he was one of the thousands of dogs the world had forgotten about. SADR are one of the few ‘no-kill’ rescues in South Australia. We believe every companion animal deserves a chance to be loved via our fostering and adoption programs. Adoption starts with submitting an application, next is a yard check and the needs of both the owner and the dog are considered to ensure a good match. We pride ourselves on a thorough adoption process and adhere to responsible re-homing practices so the adoption fee covers first vaccination, microchip & desexing.

There are many dogs in the care of SA Dog Rescue at our kennels but we also rely heavily on our network of foster carers. Our foster carers are truly special people who by opening their homes to dogs and cats in need allow us to help a greater number of animals. We are always in need of more foster carers so if you’re interested we would love to hear from you.
Our dogs love a day out and, to provide you with an opportunity to meet them, we are at Marion Market the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month and our Northern Adoption Shop at Pets Domain Gepps Cross each fortnight. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for any other events where you can come along and meet some of our dogs and cats available for adoption and chat to our dedicated volunteers.
The rescue is run entirely by volunteers and we rely on the generous support of the community to continue the work we do – we are always in need of dog and cat food, blankets, worming treatments, toys and treats. To find your nearest donation point, and more information on donating, please check the donations page on our website. We always welcome new donation points too so if you have a business or location that would like to offer this please get in touch.
There are currently over 100 volunteers for SA Dog Rescue and new volunteers are always welcome.  If you would like to help but cannot commit your time you might like to consider sponsorship or running a donation drive at your workplace or local group.
To find out more visit our website at www.sadogrescue.com or follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sadogrescue
If you would like to get involved the best method of contact is email to  sa_dog_rescue@hotmail.com
