Miriam from Create Hope Inspire organized a colour swap! I love the idea of sending something wonderful to a complete stranger, so of course I was keen to participate! You can read all about it here but the idea is this:
Although winter doesn’t seem to be coming here in Adelaide any time soon, I do think of winter being a little colour lacking so I thought maybe a colour kiss by way of an easy swap could be in order?
I’m calling it ‘a little bit of wonderful‘, you know like a wee unexpected burst of colour on a dreary, cold day. You don’t have to be a crafter to participate in this swap.
This is a colour based swap. You will get an email with your partners details and some of their favourite colours. Your challenge is to choose one colour they love and base all your items around that colour. (As much as you can – creative license is okay!)
Please include 3 or more items in the swap (they can be handmade, or thrifted – if your partner is into thrifted stuff please check, or bought all shiny and new).
Also you must include something to inspire them – a note from you, a quote or poem you love, a link to a song you love or a copy of a story that makes you smile.
My swap partner loved the colours yellow and orange, enjoyed drinking tea, loves to knit and enjoys writing letters. Here’s what I put together…..
A set of gorgeous mini tea cups with orange and gold accents. I found these in a local second hand shop.
Some lovely black tea from T2 and a yellow tea tin to keep it fresh and delicious.
Some hand stitched cards to send to friends….
And an embroidery to inspire! I even gave it a yellow back….
I packaged it all up and sent it off to my swap partner in New Zealand. I hope everything arrived safely and I hope my swap partner likes what I’ve chosen/made for her! Read part two here.

YOU GIVE THE BEST GIFTS!
Sorry, I had to scream it out loud.
LOL!! I had so much fun planning and shopping for it! T2 had orange gift wrap, which of course was perfect! I finished the embroidery at the last minute but I checked out my swap partners blog and when I saw how much they loved knitting, I just had to make it. Urban Threads have such nice embroidery patterns. Aust Post says it was delivered yesterday, so I hope nothing got broken on the way to NZ…..
awesome package!!! so much wonderful in there!
I can’t wait to see what my swap partner thinks!
What a gorgeous pressie pack….wonderful ideas and special things.
I am so excited by the whole idea!
[…] If you have read part one, you’ll know I’ve been involved in Miriams Colour Swap!! I am excited to share the wonderful things I was sent by my swap Partner Katie! I was squealing with pleasure as I opened each beautifully wrapped pressie! Even my Mum was squealing in delight! Katie must be a mind reader because I adore each and every thing! The front of th card is so very much my way of seeing the world and so beautifully made! I will be swapping the receipt from my book for your super cute bookmark! I have an obsession with aqua ish nail polish and now I have ALL THE COLOURS – how excite! The candles will look sensational against my black built in cupboards, they’ll be headed there the second the pincushions I’ve got there go off to market. And how did she know that the Earl Grey tea family is my all time fave? And it’s even aqua and all New Zealand and everything! And I can drink it out of my special, cutie patootie tea cup! I have a funny cup thing going, I use particular cups for different drinks and now I have a New Zealand cup! The adorable, tiny bunting is begging to adorn a cake that of course I’ll have to eat, along with a cup of tea. And I hope you know that those minties will be gone by morning!!! Thank you so much Katie for all that wonderful! And thanks to Miriam for organizing everything! I had a blast xxx […]
