I am a woman with thread in her veins, flour in her hair and decent collection of glue, paint and bits that might be useful later. Yes, I am Pinterest personified! I love to share my exploits into the crafty and the crazy, so that you too can make cool shit and avoid the inevitable craft fails. My tales are part mythbusters, part you can glue it and part press those seams. But just sharing here on my blog was not enough!! So I wrote a book on how to survive life with flair. I mean seriously, how could keep that stuff from you, I had to share! Edit: Updated step by step tutorial here!
But as I may have mentioned (okay, I’ve been shouting it), I am the resident DIY diva for Indie Love Magazine! Yes, I create a brand new DIY tutorial for every issue! And I really love every DIY that I’ve created for Indie Love, so one by one I’ll show them off here and if you want the how to, you can download the relevant issue. And you can download some of them for less than $2 Aussie dollars! That’s not even a cup of coffee! Even at full price it’s under $4. A whole mag filled with cool stuff about independent everything! Books, music, happenings, recipes and of course my DIY’s. You should totally subscribe (and there are several platforms and vendors to choose from) and support this very cool magazine. Indie makers are relying on the support of those who dig what they do. Plus you will hear about stuff before it happens and be on the ground floor of cool. Just click here and get this magazine in your life, okay?
And I want you to know that I’m not just shilling this because I get a fat pay day – I get nothing from this except the joy of sharing. I don’t get paid to contribute or for sales. Nothing. Go buy the magazine! If you want the how to for this DIY, you’ll need issue 1, which has a cover that looks like the one in the pic above….
You too can make these cool brooches, in any shape or design you choose. I’ve done the experimenting to find out what works and what doesn’t and I can tell you that making these it dead easy and a little therapeutic. As an adult you can make some pretty swish stuff but this is also a great kid craft. It’s coming up to Christmas and this is an amazing way for kids to make some wearable art. I went with brooches because that’s my things and I wear them all the time but I have instructions for pendants and earrings too. So grab your sharpies and get going!
