As I mentioned on Facebook, my friend Juanita had a stall at the Flinders St Market, selling her wonderful jewelry and handbags. Mummy Ask & her little dog Fang love a good market, so we went along today for a look. And bought some stuff too! The pics above are from Juanita’s stall.
I bought this fab purse ($20) from Juanita, I just love the texture of the fabric and we had a laugh about me fondling lovingly! I intend to keep my embroidery bits and pieces in it. Yes, I’m trying to embroider. I thought it might teach me some hand sewing skills, since my hand sewing skills are appalling.
Mummy Ask couldn’t resist these vintage style bottles ($5 for 4) and tin ($5) from The Fabulous Scavenger. As a nurse she thought these we perfect and is thinking she’ll put them in her book nook.
Next was Georgia Gabrielle where Mummy Ask bought two pairs of silver earrings ($30 for the dangly circles & $40 for the square studs). Don’t ya just love the motto? I was sorely tempted by a gold pair but resisted, instead buying this vintage fabric ($12 for 3mtrs) and the cut off skirt from an old vintage dress ($5).
This Sri Lankan Coconut spice blend ($8 on sale) smelt so divine, Mummy Ask just had to take it home. Amanda at Your Inspiration at Home was just lovely and I may just have a spice party (how cool does that sound!).
When I walked in the door, this crocheted plant/cacuts ($25) from Hooked on Happy took my eye first. I agonized over which one to buy while I walked around and settled on this baby! Is it not the coolest, weirdest, most freakin’ adorable thing ever? It’s so tactile and interesting, it makes me ever so happy! Even the ‘dirt’ is crochet and it’s in a beautiful wooden planter – completely cat safe!
And last but not least, a handmade block of coconut chocolate from The Coco Stop for Mr Ask! He asked me, explicitly, to bring home candy and I hope this will meet with his approval!

As I’ve said, we do love a good market and it’s been a long time since I’ve parted with so much money at one. Flinders St Market is a lovely little market, full of all sorts of curiosities and hand made wonders. If you are maker, I think this market is a really good choice and as a buyer, I say get yourself there! There was even gorgeous, fresh organic veggies for sale out the front. Every stall holder was smiling, happy and helpful and we chatted our way around. Even though I’ve waxed lyrical, I’ve in no way been compensated or paid for this! I’m just a market loving gal who wanted to share these finds. I know not all of my readers are in little ole Adelaide, although I’ve linked to everyone if you fancy something, but please add your fave markets to comments. Be sure to say which state or even country they’re in! I hope you have been enjoying a market this Sunday xxx
