Summary: I posted these brownies back on 29 January 2011 and later added free Christmas and everyday ‘in a jar’ labels. They are my most popular post! They get more hits than any other recipe, tip or post and I swear that I hear someone is making them every week. I made a batch for my nieces school camp and Sister Ask had an avalanche of requests for the recipe. She ran out of my business cards even! So, I thought it was time to revisit them and give them a nicer pic – both my photography skills and my camera have improved since then. The fab thing about these brownies is they’re easy, make a great gift and they seem to go over well with almost everyone. I am no brownie expert, hey I’m Australian and brownies weren’t much of a thing here until a few years ago. I’m not even the one calling them Best Ever Brownies, that’s just what they get called. So, why not give them a try, I’m waiting to hear what you think!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup almond slivers
- 1 cup chocolate big buttons (I use dark) or 1/2 cup small buttons
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 250g melted, butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 160C. Line a 18x28cm slice tin with baking paper.
- Add flour, cocoa, sugar, nuts and choc buttons to a large bowl and mix well.
- Mix in eggs, vanilla and melted butter.
- Spoon onto baking tray and bake for 30-35 minutes. The result is a crispy crust and fudgey center!
Edit: If you intend batch baking these, as I did for my book launch, here are some tips on making and storing these!
