Summary: You know I am right into a classic cocktail but I had forgotten this one until I had a rather special version at Fix Bar in QLD. There is debate about whether gin or vodka should be used in this drink – as a gin lover my version has gin but the cocktail police won’t knock on your door if you use vodka. And if you find grapefuit a bit bitter, never fear, the salt tricks the brain into thinking things are less bitter. Of course you could add a teaspoon of simple syrup too. Fresh juice makes all the difference, I used 6 ruby grapefruit and got just under 2 1/2 cups.
Ingredients
- 30 ml gin
- 200 ml fresh ruby grapefruit juice, chilled
- coarse salt
Instructions
- Use a slice of squeezed grapefruit to moisten the rim of the glass and dunk in a plate of coarse salt to coat the rim.
- Shake the gin and grapefruit juice over ice in a cocktail shaker.
- Pour into the salt rimmed glasses and ENJOY the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!
- P.S. Here is a bonus pic of the Ask crowds favourite dog (salty or not) Fang. Isn’t she sweet?
