Yes! It’s that time again….May (and therefore Me-Made-May’17) is coming up fast!
Me-Made-May’17 a hugely popular maker challenge (now in it’s eighth year) created by one of the most loved sewing bloggers, Zoe Edwards. She explains “Me-Made-May’17 (#MMMay17 for social media interaction) is a challenge designed to encourage people who sew/knit/crochet/refashion/upcycle garments for themselves to wear and love them more.”
I have participated the last few years (see 2013 & 2014 & 2015 & 2016 here) and I just get so much out of it! Each year I try to stretch myself a little more. I don’t think simply upping the number of Me Made’s per day will cut it this time. The pressure was on last year and this year is way too stressy already, I don’t need to stress over getting dressed! That’s not what MMMay17 is about. Plus I have embraced a more relaxed style and sometimes that means less complex outfits with less elements. This year I’m simply going to wear as many Me Made’s as I can. I’m including items I’ve sewn, refashioned or embellished but not just garments, accessories like hair clips, head scarves, brooches, earrings, shoe clips and bags too.
‘I, Sarah of AskSarah.com.au, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’17. I endeavour to wear/use as many me made or refashioned or embellished items (garments, accessories, totes etc) each day for the duration of May 2017’
What does this mean for you? Outfit Pics! I will be posting daily outfit pics to Instagram and Facebook, with a weekly wrap on the blog. So if you have every wondered what I wear in real life or how (and if!) I wear the things I make – this is your chance! Whilst photos are NOT a requirement, I really like this element of the challenge. I save all my MMM pics from previous years on my phone, so if I can’t think what to wear, I have some options.
And I LOVE to comb through everyone else’s posts in Instagram! I feel inspired by what other people make and wear. If you knit, sew or craft, there’s still plenty of time to sign up! I’m so looking forward to seeing what others have been making. I feel like it might be the right thing to get my sewing mojo (sewjo?) back on track. I’ve just had a good six months of stressful issues that have eaten all my time and I haven’t sewn anywhere near as much as I’d like. Things are settling and I’ve been easing back in with a few fun projects. Cute projects coming soon!
