I feel like I’m the last blogger on earth to make the Tiramisu dress from Cake Patterns. But several stars aligned and it jumped to the head of my sewing cue. Once I ordered the pattern and looked at the details, I was pretty excited. I especially liked this spotty version. The pattern arrived the same day as some spotty fabric I’d ordered. Later that night I was watching Storage Wars and fell in love with the green dress Brandi was wearing. Hers was a woven fabric but had similar lines to Tiramisu. I wish I could find a picture for you! You can have this pic of me on the Tiramisu pattern envelope instead, Mr Ask is clever!
I was up for some sewing instant gratification, the overlocker was out and Tiramisu was calling my name. I whizzed up two dresses & a top in a couple of days! I love how this pattern is designed to fit. You pick the back based on your high bust measurement (a 35 in my case), the front to your full bust measurement (I tried both a 35C & 35D), the waist band starts at your size (35) and the bottom of the band is your waist measurement (40) & then you pick the skirt that matches the bottom waist (40). I swear that Steph over at Cake Patterns is a genius! I can’t wait to sew the Bonny Knit Sailor Top.
My first Tiramisu was this lovely spotty version. It was made entirely on the overlocker & will be left un hemmed. In fact all three were stitched on the overlocker and not the sewing machine (it probably enjoyed the holiday!). It just suits the fabric so well and it’s hardly noticeable.
I bought this fabulous leopard print sweater knit from fabric.com. If you’re not familiar with sweater knit, it is a stretch fabric that is like a sweater/jumper/cardi/woolly. Perfect for a winter dress. I was planning to make a wrap dress from it but thought it would make a superb Tiramisu! I added 3/4 sleeves using this sleeve hack from Steph. This will get a stitched hem very soon.
You may have already seen my third Tiramisu, I’m wearing it in my Facebook profile pic. This time I made a Tiramisu tee! I used the sleeve hack again, for long sleeves this time. I simply made the waistband sections 10 inches longer to create the lower section. I scored the pink cherry fabric on eBay, isn’t it cute?
I’m sure I’ll end up with a whole wardrobe of these, this is officially my favourite sewing pattern. Thank you again to Steph at Cake Patterns, I wish I had bought this pattern sooner. I think it’s the cutest dress/top ever. What do you think?

I love the tee and of course both the dresses. I made a Tira dress this past spring. I love it to bits and I’m planning on making one long sleeve version for this winter, probably using a wool jersey, I’ve seen a gorgeous purple one I might decide to buy for this dress!
Thank you! I love the idea of wool jersey, the leopard print is a sweater knit and it worked beautifully. I am going to make some summer tees too.
I love all 3 of your Tiramisus! I’ve had this pattern since it came out and have not sewn it yet, so you are not the last 🙂 I really need to make time to sew one for myself–your versions are so inspiring!
Oh wow, these are just stunning!!
Thanks Vicki! I wear them often xx
