I am always cooking an I try not to let fats go down the drain but you can’t help the cream from the mixing bowl etc from sliding down. I do this every month or so to keep everything clear and have not had a problem yet. It also works once you have a problem……
Pour a cup of plain, dry bicarb soda down the drain (if you keep bicarb in the fridge to keep smells away you can use it for this rather than throwing it out).
Get ready with the plug in one hand and pour a cup of plain white vinegar down the drain. Quickly cover the drain immediately afterwards with the plug to avoid a “mini volcano” that will try to come up and out of the drain. If you spilt any bicarb getting it in the drain you can rub it into the sink with a wet sponge to shine up your stainless steel.
Leave for 30 mins then pour a litre or two of hot water down the drain and voila!
If you started with a draining problem you may need to repeat.
