I love to give handmade gifts. I think there is something magical about choosing the project and materials with the intended recipient in mind and then taking the time to craft them in to something special. I think giving your time is such a nice idea. It’s personal. There’s just something wonderful about receiving a gift like that. Mother’s Day is all about telling your Mum that she’s amazing because after all she not only gave birth to you, she put up with you too! I know that my Mum has suffered through ever so much. From those problem toddler years, to awkward primary school years, the terror that is the teenage years and the unstable twenties. Even now, I am in my 30’s writing this post with her by my side. My Mum deserves a medal! But she chooses not to celebrate Mother’s Day because she hates to give her girls an obligation. And as she always tells people, ‘I get thoughtful handmade gifts all year round. I’m not going to trade that for one special day!’. Many of the tutorials here are things I’ve made for my Mum. The pressing surface is a total fave (goodbye, ugly ironing board!) and she uses both the bath salts and roller ball perfume everyday. She mentions how much she loves these (and other handmade gifts) all the time.
And that’s the key. Great gifts are ones that will be treasured by the recipient. I just know that there will be something perfect for your Mum among these tutorials. As I’ve said, the fact that something is handmade really ups the ante and I think it’s a nice throwback to the macaroni stars, clay ashtrays (for the non smoker) and finger painted gifts that used to be the best way to say, ‘I love you Mum’. So, let’s get to it!
- Good Morning Coffee & Mint Body Polish (Solid Ex-foliant)
- Makeup Brush Roll
- Roller Ball Pulse Point Point Perfume
- Handmade Blush
- Fruits & Flowers Hair Band or Head Piece
- Rockabilly Headscarf
- Creaseless Hair Ties
- Non Slip Headscarf
- Hand Painted Wooden Spoons
- Pot Holders
- Pom Pom Apron
- Brownies in a Jar with printable label
Whew! That’s a lot of handmade! I am sure you found something that is just perfect for your Mum (or Mums, because there are Step Mums and Mother’s in Law that need some loving too)! I wish you excellent making, sewing and doing! You know they’ll love it. And if that’s all too much, why not cook some of these goodies instead? Nothing says, ‘I love you’ better than some home cooked calories. Sadly, my cats will bring me nothing, except maybe a dead bug. Enjoy Mother’s Day and know I’ll be toasting to you with Mummy Ask. Cheers! xxxx
