For those of you new to Market Sundays, it’s an ongoing series where I take lots of pics of the markets or shops I hit and give you a bit of commentary so you can see the places I like to shop and hang around in.

You know I love a good rummage in a thrift store! So when Mummy Asks friend M offered to take us around her local op shops & share her fave hunting ground – I was in! It was a good day before we even left M’s house, where M gave me this amazing, pearl beaded, vintage shawl/collar. How lucky am I? We headed off to the first three and stopped for a coffee break at M’s before the next three. The three of has had a lovely time picking over all manner of trash and picking up some treasures. If you find yourself in the suburbs south of Adelaide, you might want to hit these op shops!

This medium sized op shop was quite the treasure trove! I picked up a $2 Vintage tin, just perfect for buttons. These modern but thoroughly vintage looking $5 black mules for $5.25 and this $8.25 cropped fluffy jumper that screams ‘sweater girl’. Mummy Ask spend $9.25 on these gorgeous, yet practical & brand new patent shoes.

Just round the corner from the salvos, is Savers a massive thrift super store. I’ve had some great fabric finds here but today there was nothing. It’s worth noting that they had a massive selection of new and second hand Halloween costumes for both adults and children. Lots of well priced props, makeup and fake blood too. But sadly there was nothing there for me or Mummy Ask.

Reef is a smallish shop with new & second hand items but it was jam packed with interesting bits. I picked up a massive bargain, paying $10 for 103cm wide x 4.54m Taffeta that may or may not be silk but I think it is! I also grabbed this $4 tray for an upcoming project but will pass it on to M once I’m done because she had her eye on it too!

This medium store had a lot going on but sadly nothing for me or for Mummy Ask. A few things were very tempting but we’re not quite good enough to make room for. I would cruise here again.
Vinnies Clearance Store

Christies Beach, SA 5165

This shop is pretty much across the road from the last one. It’s a smallish store but boy, is it cheap! Quality handbags like Jag, Fossil and Esprit for $5 and most of the dresses and tops I looked at were only $2. While it was very well worth a rummage, neither of us got stuff here either.

Oh yeah! This was the mother load! This tiny shop was home to many interesting things and was priced in that ‘volunteer old lady has no idea what it’s worth’ way. And very neat and tidy. I was toting that hot pink scarf around, then Mummy Ask picked up those green shoes (so freakin’ jealous) and then Mum, M and I sorta had a buying frenzy of stuff in the glass cabinet. This vintage beaded shawl/collar was the buy of the day at $8, $2 for this vintage olive fork (how darling?), $5 for the green shoes (brand new with extra heel tips), $1 for the glass fish wine stopper, $4 for the glass vase (Mummy Ask had been looking for the right one all day) and the final win was that they threw in the scarf for free!
What a wonderful, thrifty haul! I would have loved to show you the goodies M picked up but time was too tight. I don’t think you could find an op shopper with a better eye than M! In the past she picked up a filthy opal pendant for $2 and had it valued at thousands and grabbed a gold ring (with a possible diamond) for next to nothing! Huge thanks to M for a wonderful day and for sharing her secret spots (& letting me tell you guys too). If you know of a great op shop or two in Adelaide, please let me know xxx
P.S: This is one of M’s cats, Rusty, isn’t he majestic? He is massive! If you are familiar with my cat, Mr Pyjamas (Jarms), Rusty is much bigger than that! M’s other cat, Boots, is also a big one but was being a little camera shy.

[…] All that fun thrift store shopping with M seems like years ago! But I am already planning something with that gorgeous fabric. Stay tuned….. […]
