Let me just start by saying I love Me Made May! This year I upped my pledge to wearing two items a day (including accessories) and while I didn’t state it in my pledge, I also wanted to wear more of my me made wardrobe. Why? Well, I wear a lot of me made stuff but I can get stuck on wearing the same combos and some things just don’t get worn much. I see MMM as an opportunity to unlock my wardrobe, find new combos and work out why things work or don’t work. That helps my sewing planning plus I think it’s more interesting for you guys that are watching. But MMM is so much more than outfits, it’s a creative challenge and an opportunity to see what others are making and wearing. Here are some quick thoughts:
- It’s odd to see a month of outfits laid out that way. I see how I have really developed my style over time.
- I had joy in finding that some things that I had forgotten about because they didn’t go with anything, that now I go with something I’ve made since.
- I am surprised that I easily managed two or more me mades and still never wore the same outfit twice!
- I actually used my accessories and am still doing so into June.
- I am kinda shocked by the amount and variety of things I have made.
- Mum has become expert in taking outfit pics, we have worked out the best spots for lighting and I think I’m less self-conscious.
- Sewing is not just a happy hobby, it has filled my wardrobe with things that fit well and that I love to wear.
I hope you have enjoyed Me Made May as much as I have! As always, I’d love your thoughts, so hit me in comments or on facebook xxxx
