This is the fourth post in the photo tour, if you want to check out the rest you can find them here, here & here. Plus a post about her motivation to renovate and how the house was before here. This is quite possibly my fave room (it’s a tie with the wardrobe) because it is such a better use of the space. It was such an uptight space we used to call it the good room. Not because it was good but because no one used it. The room was clearly oriented so that the couch would face the under stair void…..but the room was so odd that way. So, we changed it so the couch faces the other wall with spot tables instead of a coffee table and a book nook under the stairs. I freaking love it! The book nook was made by the beautiful Bryan.

There are some changes that are all the way throughout – new paint, new carpet, new blinds and various electrical changes. Mummy Ask was so happy with a her tradies but the painter Bryan Mears gets a special mention! So many chats, decisions and jokes made over tea and biscuits (or if he was lucky a cake made at my house). He made the harshness of having your life upside down quite pleasurable and did some work at my house too. The electricians Paul & Carl from Ampelec (who also did some work for me) were also great to work with. We found them and Bryan through The Whoot and it was a conincidence that Bryan and Paul knew each other, so they worked around each other easily. There were times when there was three or so tradies here and they would need to get in each others way, so it was great that the relationships were good and they could accomadate each other. So we would definitely recommend the mentioned tradies, they were all lovely people who did a great, professional job. I have a list of where to buys at the bottom & you can check out her inspiration board on Pinterest too.
I adore this strange light and even more the crazy silver frames for these original artworks.
We went with this burnt orange on the arch and also at the top of the stairs to add warmth and depth. I feel it really perks up the monochromatic colour scheme.
Ahhhh, the book nook….. I adore this. A great use of the space and if you look really close you’ll see my childhood golden books.
This grey wall is very dominant in a good way and the couch is nice an squooshy!
