Summary: Almost everyone loves bread. I know I do, especially freshly baked bread from my very own oven. These are really light, fluffy, beautiful rolls. I wanted a pic of how fluffy they are but alas they were eaten before it could be taken. They are quite similar to those KFC rolls that Mr Ask loves, doubling the sugar will give you a closer copy cat version. They are a nice batch of 6 and are so quick and easy, you really could make them every day.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2cups plain flour plus extra for dusting
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp instant dry yeast (I use Lowans brand)
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tblsp butter
Instructions
- Add the flour, sugar, yeast and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. {If not using a mixer, just add to a large bowl.}
- Add the milk, water and butter to a microwave jug or small saucepan and heat to 50C – 55C.
- Add the milk mix to the dry ingredients and mix with the dough hook until smooth and elastic. {If not using a mixer, stir everything together until thoroughly mixed. Turn on to floured board and knead for 6-8 mins and dough is smooth and elastic.}
- Cover the dough and allow to rest for 10mins. Pre heat the oven to 190C.
- Divide dough into six pieces and arrange in a baking tin. Cover and allow to rest for a further 40mins or until doubled in size.
- Bake for 20 mins or until golden brown. Turn out onto a rack to cool.

there is no measurement for the butter in the ingredients list?
Ooops! I’ve fixed it up now. Sorry!
Just finished kneading now it’s in the warmer draw (it’s not on but I had the oven nice and hot after making a frittata), going to attempt to halve the rising time! Wish me luck 😀
Sounds great! How did they go?
