Summary: Just the best accompaniment to a roast dinner
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 cup cold milk
- Vegetable oil
Instructions
- Pre heat oven to 230C.
- Add the dry ingredients to a bowl or large jug. Lightly beat the milk and egg together.
- Slowly add the liquid a bit at a time. Once everything is added beat until completely smooth.
- Leave to rest for 30 minutes.
- Place a 2tsp of oil into each cup of a 12 cup muffins pan (you can make one large one in a cake tin instead) leave the oiled tray to heat in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Whisk batter one last time.
- Remove from oven and pour the batter into the pans, they should be about half full.
- Cook for about 20-30minutes (longer for one large one) or until the puddings have risen and browned.
- Serve as an accompaniment to roast meat and veg with lashings of gravy.
