I love to know what’s in things. It helps me make decisions about what I buy but it can also be info that’s hard to find. Remember the lengths I went to when researching fabric softener? I also think what you put on your skin is as important as what you eat. Plus if you have allergies like The Bestie does, knowing what’s in things might save your life! That’s why I was super excited when Conscious Cosmetics sent me some goodies to try.
Conscious Cosmetics is an online store that sells personal care products that are safer for you and cruelty free. They disclose the ingredients list and have a great information to help you make informed purchasing decisions.
I was sent A’Kin Rosehip & Shea Intensive Moisture Anti-Oxidant Complex and Miessence Jaffa Lip Balm to try. Lets start with the Lip Balm. I am in love with the orange scent/taste of this. Some of you may remember that I sold my own lip balms for a while because I couldn’t buy one I really liked. I really like this one and would suggest it to anyone missing the balms I used to make. It’s moisturizing but not oily or sticky.
I was a bit worried about the A’kin skin cream. I’d recently had a bad experience with a supermarket brand that had left me with lots of big blind pimples. The A’kin cream smelt of roses (love!) and was really thick and creamy. My skin is combination and it can be hard to strike a balance. I’ve incorporated a night cream into my routine over the last year or so and as this was a more heavy duty cream than i am used to. I used it instead of my normal night cream. I am shocked at how nice my skin has been, my pimples are going down nicely and despite the richness, it was not oily at all. It’s done wonders for my hands, feet and rough elbows too. Perfect for winter skin. I will be buying this once my tub runs out! Mummy Ask also tried the A’kin cream and said it did wonders for her mature skin. She thinks it would make a great gift, mmm was that a hint?
I know for that many of you, price is an issue but I really think these products are worth it. And you don’t have to change over every product in your cabinet at once, why not try one or two products and see how you go. So if you want to know what’s in what you buy, head over to Conscious Cosmetics. I suggest reading their vision statement, it really made me think xxx
