I have been endeavoring to focus this week but somehow I was destined to get not much done. The were welcome distractions in the form of The Bestie and Mummy Ask. Even without actual distraction I kept finding myself skiving off and dreaming up sewing plans. Just when I was ready to kick some butt, I got sick. I shall take this a omen and rest &relax.
- Beautyfromme posted a pic of this amazing book on Instagram. I commented that I wanted one and thought, ‘hang on what if there’s a copy on eBay?’. There was and I bought it. How crazy it was that easy to find a book from 1937? Or maybe I was lucky….
- And then another lovely Instagram commenter mentioned a book called Nella Survives War. It’s a diary of daily rationing, I bought that too!
- My friend Miriam is running some really interesting workshops with Laneway Learning, one called I Just Want to Make Stuff – But I Have No Skills! and the other is What’s Your Love Language?. They look super interesting, so head on over and have a look.
- Speaking of friends, my friend Juanita is selling her gorgeous bags at the Round She Goes Market on 23 Sept 2014. I am going to try and go with Mummy Ask before our regional Sewing Guild Meeting. If I get there, I’ll do a Market Sundays post for you.
- I never got into Buffy the first time around, I preferred the movie to the series but we just started watching it from the beginning. I’m into it now!
- I found Annika from the Pineneedle Collective, and her awesome sewing blog & youtube channel. You should definitely check it out.
- I’ve mentioned Jen from A Vintage Vanity before (lots of hair/makeup/sewing/chats) but she just finished a sewalong of Butterick 5603. Fantistic instructions and I loved her zipper insertion!
- I am really, really into lentils. I posted a fresh and unexpected lentil soup this week but I am all about daal this weekend. Cumin-y, spicy, onion-y daal. Such a wonderful comfort food, don’t you think?
- Remember the BFF Cardi I posted this week? The deal was a jacket in exchange for a blankie. I’ll be posting about the blankie next week but I have to say it arrived with perfect timing (just like The Bestie to have perfect timing) because I’m sick and happily snuggled under it!
I hope you have a marvelous weekend and not a sucky sick one like me. Stupid parotitis, stupid swollen face. Make sure you think of feeble me while you frolick in the sunlight. No, seriously, have a great weekend & be sure to frolick in the sunshine xxxx
