This Me Made May has been a much more casual one than past years. Lots more days at home, lots of mirror selfies wearing casual at home clothes. My seasonal bipolar low was more of a mixed state and hit right at the beginning of May. Basically, I felt pretty down with a kind of driven vibe, which I channelled into sewing and baking. Being creative is part of my bipolar survival strategy, so it worked out pretty well. I stayed home and did things at my own pace but looking back, I was extremely productive! I got quite a few projects completed and planned even more. I am really happy with everything I made but I am super proud of my reversible coat, made to a vintage 1955 pattern. I love it so much! And the muslin that I made up in fleece is now my dressing gown, so it’s win all around! Here are my May makes

Every year, Me Made May points out the gaps in my wardrobe. I’ve never really been into making things like track pants because no one will see them but after making the Lexi jogger, I’ve decided it would be nice to have a few comfy, casual pieces that are cute too. I’m keeping my eye out for some cute jersey to make another pair of Lexis. I definitely want to make more bralettes for wearing at home. I’d like to make more cute tees to wear with jeans, so good for low effort days.
Of course, I loved seeing everyone’s outfits on Instagram. So many amazing, creative people making amazing and creative garments. I loved sifting through the hashtag and saved many posts for later. I found so many new people to follow. I have a whole list of patterns to check out too. My poor sewing journal is getting a beating as I squirrel away ideas.
I decided to add this year’s outfits as a gif, so you can flick though the months outfits. You can also see each outfit in highlights on Instagram here. Even though I wasn’t feeling fantastic this MMM, I feel like it may have been my best. I had a completely different state of mind that showed a new set of wardrobe gaps. Luckily, I am still in sewing mode, so I hope I can make a start on filling those gaps straight away. Did you participate in Me Made May? What did you learn?
