Whilst rummaging in the op shop I found this home made muumuu marked $4 but 50% off. I loved the fabric (a swimwear type of thick spandex I think) but it was huge had no shape at all. I am an AU size 16-18 but you could have fitted two of me in there!

I had Butterick pattern 5606 traced out already and knew it was a fitted shape but still a little loose. I cut the muumuu to the tank pattern but kept the nice, home done, twin needle hem. As the pattern was wider at the hem than the muumu I just graded the two together.
The result is this cute summer dress! Due to the fabric, it’s perfect for over bathers or paddling at the beach, as well as wearing out and about. Not bad for $2 and I will be keeping my eye out for more muumuus….
