I LOVE animals but I really dont love it when they pee on things!! An enzyme based laundry soap is a must have if you have pets. The enzymes help to break down the biologicals in animal urine and this removes the smell and often the stain. Here in Australia I use Biozet but just have a good look at the labels.
CARPET
Do not rub the stain! Rubbing destroys the carpet fibres and can set the stain.
1. Blot the stain with a towel (I tend to stand on it to get all the moisture I can out).
2. Spray the stain, make sure to cover the edge of the stain, with a solution of enzyme based laundry soap and water or a commercial pet stain remover such as Urine Off. Leave for 30 mins.
3. Repeat blotting to dry carpet. If stain persists after carpet is dry repeat steps 2 & 3.
If this is an ongoing issue it is worth having your carpet professionally cleaned every six months.
CLOTHES & MACHINE WASHABLES
Wash on a normal cycle with an enzyme based laundry soap and 1 cup of white vinegar. If possible hang in the sun to dry.
HARD FLOORS
Mop with an enzyme based laundry soap and warm water. This may leave your floor streaky depending on the surface, if this happens re mop with your usual cleaner once dry.
