If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand time, the Ask house is freakin’ tiny! Storage space of every kind is at a premium. So, in my world I need to take advantage of every bit of space, so this utilizes vertical storage, in the form of my walls.

I don’t wear things that I can’t find or can’t see. Which is why you’ll see me rock the same hair bow/necklace/headband/brooch all the time for a while and then never see it again. But no more! My bedroom door, when closed, creates an odd triangle of space that is made up of the side of a built in wardrobe, a slim bit of wall and the back of the door. The back of the door has a full length mirror, so it was a natural getting ready nook.
I have used those 3M sticky hooks to hang my costume necklaces. I know it’s a tad crowded but I can see each one enough to pick it out and see if it’s going to work with my outfit.
I sewed up this little strip for my brooches by cutting two 16″ x 3″ strips of scrap cotton drill, sewing them together with a 1cm seam allowance but leaving a gap to turn it right side out. I trimmed the seam allowances, turned it right side out and top stitched it all the way around, closing the gap I used to turn it. I just made a small button hole at the top. If you don’t sew, a scarf, hair band or similar will work well. A ribbon, elastic or similar hand stitched to the top will allow you to hang it. Or if you really don’t sew, a binder clip will do.
Sis in Law Ask has an amazing collection of headbands and hair bows. Bows are her signature look, she is always wearing one or two somewhere in here outfit. In fact you may remember the bow clutch I made her for Christmas. Anyway, she uses the same theory to store her bows and bands. She has repurposed an old fabric belt (you can buy belting like this in spotlight) as the base and gorilla glued (or hot glue) the ribbon into loops. That way you can hang or clip your goodies on. If you hand sewed some snaps on, so the ribbon loops opened and shut, you could even hang bangles!

So, with this new tidy arrangement, I have no excuses for not accessorizing perfectly! Are these storage solutions that would work for you? Do you have tons of accessories too? Do you wear your accessories or do they live in a drawer somewhere?
