Mummy Ask has been known to be just the tiniest bit OCD when it comes to keeping a house looking good and a scratch on her furniture is a torture! This tip comes straight from her bag of magic tricks and has been put to good use in the Ask household which includes three lovely felines. I would not recommend this method for precious pieces but it works a treat on everyday items.
- Grab some shoe polish, the kind in a tin. It will only work if the colour is right, so try a shoe repairers for the best colour selection, err towards slightly lighter than darker.
- Use a soft cloth to rub the polish into the scratch and buff off like you would on shoes.
- Spray with furniture polish (we like Mr Sheen) and polish with a paper towel.
- Admire your work.
We have been known to colour chipped laminate in with matching texta or even use white out on white laminate! These are obviously camouflage techniques so the results will not be perfect but they will lessen the look of the damage. Also, I find the look seems to improve with time xxx
