This writing a book thing comes with many exciting and nausea inducing moments! The key thing I had to have for my book launch (if you’d like to come, let me know) was the book itself. After conferring with the publisher we settled on 17 April as the date, so that there would be time for the books to arrive. We put in our order for a hundred copies and waited. And then came the email saying that the boat was delayed but they’d arrange for part of the order to be sent by air. And so again we waited….
Then Mummy Ask called me early this morning to tell me she had boxes delivered. Boxes with books inside, my books going by the shipping label. Mum even sent me photos as proof. When I got to Mums, I didn’t even get my bag out of the car or shut the door, I just ran to open the box! Mum had her phone at the ready to capture the moment! A box inside a box and much bubble wrap later, that first book was in my hands. We squealed, we laughed, I didn’t even resister the gouge I’d put in my thumb as I opened the box.
The book is beautiful! Far more beautiful, sturdy, serious and real that I could have imagined! I’ve only seen what you have seen on this blog. Immediately, so many photos were snapped, friends and family were sent texts. Mum cried and for the first time ever in my life I was stunned to silence.
It’s been a few hours but I’m crazy! I’m excited, I’m terrified and I think I’m in shock! OMG
has been sent and received in what feels like a thousand texts. So let’s be excited together okay? Send me messages, tell me what you think of the real thing, come to my launch or buy a signed copy! This all feels very real all of a sudden. And it you guys that I have to thank, see……
