For those of you new to Market Sundays, it’s an ongoing series where I take lots of pics of the markets or shops I hit and give you a bit of commentary so you can see the places I like to shop and hang around in.
This is a rather epic day of shopping! Just over a year ago, Mummy Asks friend M took us on a tour of her local op shop scene. M is a dedicated op shop lover and kindly offered to repeat last years tour, which has info about each shop. I’m going to focus on our finds this time because I remembered to take pics of M’s haul before heading home! The first three are so close, you can park at one and wander over to the others! Even the next three are just up the road. Christies Beach is a paradise for thifty shoppers and we were into it! I actually had a list of garments I was hoping to find. Mostly very casual pieces and items I’d like to refashion, so don’t think I’ve gone mad when you see some of my finds! Six op shops, three women on a mission and bargains behind every door…….

SOLD: I really went a bit nuts here! To be fair, I was picking up stuff from my list. I grabbed two pairs of sweat pants in the standard black and grey, a cropped striped cardi, a big grey cardi and a super cute knock off pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers. M grabbed a kids party cook book and some melamine plates that will be great around her pool.
SPOTTED: This grey wool was super tempting but that would just add to my pile of grey fabrics that I still haven’t done something with. This odd little strapless dress (yep, it’s hard to photograph nicely but it is a shapely dress) is exactly the same as something Mummy Ask tried on in a boutique some years ago but they didn’t have her size. Back then she was taken but even though this one was the right size, she decided it just wasn’t her anymore.
Mummy Ask was just having one of those days where nothing took her fancy. She picked up a cereal container for dog food at the second Salvos, a tie up birdie shirt in Savers, a delicate cardi and a cookbook in Reef Recycle. She was pretty excited about my nail polish purchase…It was hot! Like 37C hot when were were out and we really flagging after hoofing around a whopping 6 op shops! So we headed back to M’s for a cool drink. I must have said something that clicked for M and she rushed inside and returned with my favourite thing, fabric! She kindly donated 6m of black and floral sheer plus about a metre each of silver sequin and stretch velvet to my stash. M, if you are reading, I hope you can feel my hugs, kisses and general, unfetted joy! Thank you!
I know it’s been tough to read of these shopping adventures, so I will leave you with these pictures of M’s cat Rusty. He’s huge. He’s cute. He’s shaved for summer. He looks like a lion with his fur. And he is a snuggler! Happy shopping! I’d love to see what you find, so tag me in your FB and Insta posts xxxxxxx
