Summary: Crumbles are just awesome, especially in the cooler weather. Not only are they delish but you can use any fruit fresh, frozen or canned. You can also freeze the crumble topping for an almost instant dessert – yes, you heard that right! Just imagine you’re settled in for the night and fancy a nice hot dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 100g cold butter, cubed
- 2/3 cup castor sugar
Instructions
- Rub all the ingredients together with your fingertips, until the mixture resembles very coarse breadcrumbs with a few larger lumps.
- For bigger batches, a food processor helps. Just pulse all the ingredients in the food processor until a crumb texture forms. Use your fingertips to press it together a bit, you want it to look like small pebbles.

- Demerara sugar
- Lemon or orange zest
- Chopped nuts
- Sesame seeds
