Summary: Sometimes you have that little bit left over or maybe you prefer to batch cook for easy weekday prep but either way your freezer is your friend!
I like to freeze things in single servings so that Mr Ask and I can zap what we each feel like on busy nights. I like to freeze mine with the rice or pasta on top of the container, as in the pic, so that everything is the right way up when tipped into a bowl. Here are a few freezer tips to ensure your pre made meals taste perfect.
- Rice freezes very well, without much change in taste or texture
- Rice can be frozen on it’s own and microwaved when you are ready to use
- Sauces will thicken when reheated, so remember to allow for this
- Pasta will continue to soften when reheated, so it’s best to leave it al dente
- Large pasta dishes like mac’n’cheese, cannelloni and lasagna are best frozen un baked and cooked later
- Pasta and rice dishes can be stored in the freezer for up to 4 months
- Make sure you reheat your tasty treats to at least 75C, all the way through
