Mummy Asks Renovations – Master Suite

August 20, 2012

For all of you who are nosy and for those of you who told me you’d love a look round Mummy Asks place now that the renovations are done – here it is! I will post a room per day until you’ve seen it all. You can read about why she renovated here.

There are some changes that are all the way throughout – new paint, new carpet, new blinds and various electrical changes. Mummy Ask was so happy with a her tradies but the painter Bryan Mears gets a special mention! So many chats, decisions and jokes made over tea and biscuits (or if he was lucky a cake made at my house). He made the harshness of having your life upside down quite pleasurable and did some work at my house too. The electricians Paul & Carl from Ampelec (who also did some work for me) were also great to work with. We found them and Bryan through The Whoot and it was a conincidence that Bryan and Paul knew each other, so they worked around each other easily.  There were times when there was three or so tradies here and they would need to get in each others way, so it was great that the relationships were good and they could accomadate each other. So we would definately reccommend the mentioned tradies, they were all lovely people who did a great, profesional job. I have a list of where to buys at the bottom & you can check out her inspiration board on Pinterest too.

The pendant lights really are the feature here (they are new, there were no lights there before) and the dark wall sets them off nicely. Everyone was really worried when the grey wall was painted, wet it looked like a blackboard but dry it is grey with a subtle brown tinge.
And this is where things get interesting, the wardrobe front was redone with four doors instead of three. You can just see the fan/light – yep, it is a fan! When turned on, clear blades come out and then tuck back in when off. The fan and light function are remote controlled.
This wardrobe is no longer a wardrobe (you’ll find out more about that soon enough) but the drawers house pyjamas and underwear. Of course there is a massive TV in there too. Things like a small file cabinet and the vacuum are stored in the sides.
There is a small Juliet balcony that looks out to the hills in here too.
This is the view of the bathroom when you are standing in the bedroom. It is a two way bathroom, the door you see ahead leads to the landing near the other two bedrooms.
Once the room was finished we felt it needed a little something, so the bathe decal was added instead of the picture that used to hang there.
And of course, everything is in it’s place……
