This is such an easy method of stain removal and I have had success with both fresh, wet stains and older dried stains. Bicarb is also great for removing smells, you can shake a little over the carpet and leave for an hour before vacuuming, to freshen carpets.
If the stain is still wet, blot with paper towel or an old towel to remove as much moisture as possible.
Spray the stain and the edge of the stain with white vinegar. You just want to moisten the stain.
Cover with a layer of bicarb and leave overnight to dry completely.
Vacuum up the bicarb.
This should fix most stains straight up but very wet or bright stains may need a repeat.
